Position Overview
Working in the home and/or a community environment, the Direct Support Professional provides quality one‑on‑one services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The role supports clients in achieving outcomes outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP) and collaborates with their multidisciplinary team.

Schedule
Wednesday – Sunday: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Essential Job Functions

Support adult or pediatric individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities to promote their emotional, physical, and personal well‑being.

Implement strategies to help clients achieve outcomes stated in their ISP.

Complete documentation (EVV, daily service notes) to substantiate services delivered.

Assist in the development and maintenance of clients’ ISP.

Report any changes or problems in a client’s condition to the manager promptly.

Adhere to state and program regulations, Aveanna HealthCare policies, procedures, and applicable accreditation standards.

Maintain confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times.

Guide clients toward greater independence through instruction, role modeling, and skill development (e.g., cooking, budgeting, hygiene).

Identify opportunities for community engagement that align with clients’ hobbies and interests.

Ensure clients’ health and safety.

Requirements

Desire to help individuals live life to its fullest.

High school diploma or equivalency.

Active driver’s license with current automobile insurance, registration, and inspection (if transporting clients).

Willingness to accompany clients into the community while respecting their civil and human rights and dignity.

Must be 18 or older.

Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance.

FBI clearance required for candidates who do not meet PA residency requirements.

Environment
Work may occur in various environments that could involve exposure to allergens and other conditions.
