Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting plasma center operations.
Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable results, and referring to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when necessary. Additional duties involve conducting donor medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE). The role requires evaluating donor reactions and managing medical emergencies per SOPs, providing support for hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs, managing employee incidents with occupational health or ER, and acting as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.

Responsibilities

Determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review laboratory test results.

Notify donors of unsuitable test results and refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs as needed.

Conduct donor medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).

Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies following SOPs and developing Center Physician standing orders.

Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.

Manage employee incidents and coordinate evaluation with occupational health or ER, following EHS guidance.

Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations of pandemic threats.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate level equivalency of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.

Current license or certification in the state where responsibilities are assigned: LPN or LVN.

Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.

Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.

Completion of FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44 (U.S. location: NE – Omaha). Location‑based factors may affect the final offer. Work Schedule & Availability
This role requires every other weekend availability on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM–4:30 PM, as well as coverage Monday–Friday operating hours 6:00 AM–9:00 PM. Open availability for shifts within these timeframes is required. Both full‑time and part‑time schedules are available.
