About The Unit
Our Med Surg Unit is a 25-bed department providing comprehensive care to patients from Mason County and surrounding West Michigan communities. The unit cares for a wide range of medical conditions, including pneumonia and respiratory illnesses, cellulitis and infectious processes, kidney failure and acute/chronic kidney injury, diabetes-related conditions and hyperglycemia, ulcers and wound care needs, geriatric and confused elderly patients, alcohol-related health concerns, sepsis, and select psychiatric patients.

Scope of Work
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process – assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications
Associate’s in Nursing required.
Bachelor’s in Nursing required within 5 years.
MI Registered Nurse (RN) required.
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days.
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months.
