Alpha Veterinary Hospital is a growing companion and exotic animal hospital in the semi‑rural Sellersville area just south of Quakertown. It is a quaint area with lots of charm but still close to everything you would need. We have a friendly atmosphere, and we are seeking a Veterinary Technician/Assistant (some experience preferred but willing to train further) (fulltime/part time) to join our fabulous team. An ideal candidate should be friendly, efficient, reliable, team oriented, self‑motivated, capable of multitasking, and has a passion for animals. Anesthesia skills preferred.
Responsibilities
Feed, groom and weigh animals
Clean cages
Sterilize equipment and clean examination tables and rooms
Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations
Administer medication prescribed by Veterinarians
Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
Help in cases of emergencies
Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments or calling patients in the examination room by priority
Keep accurate records and logs
Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for and explain issues
Advise pet owners on nutrition and healthcare
Answering phones during overflow times
Anesthesia/surgical monitoring
Skills
Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant is a plus as well as anesthesia, but will train the right person
Excellent communication skills
Patient and caring personality
Ability to follow instructions properly
Comfortable being around animals
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
Availability to work some nights and some Saturday's
High school diploma or GED required; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus
Positive attitude a must
Understands the customer service needs for the bond humans have with their beloved pets
