Job Summary
Provide journeyman level skills and expertise in the installation, maintenance, preventive maintenance, remodeling, repair and servicing of the University's electrical systems from 12 volt up to and including 12,470 volts. Assemble, install, and repair circuitry, switchgear, distribution systems and all related components. Frequently responsible for the training and supervision of less skilled workers. Work performed in an educational and research environment.

Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of a year of commercial or industrial electrical experience, including estimating small electrical jobs and overseeing a small group of employees.
Texas Journeyman Electrician license is required and a valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Education and Experience
Vocational/Technical Diploma or some College/Associate's Degree in a related field.
3-5 years of Commercial or industrial electrical experience.
1-3 years of estimating small electrical jobs.
1-3 years of overseeing personnel up to 5 employees.
Other Qualifications
Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform service calls and work orders submitted by departments within the University, including work off ladders, rooftops, or scaffolding; keep records of work and preventative maintenance logs.
Run conduit, pull wire, install and repair electrical systems throughout the University, perform preventative maintenance on all electrical systems.
Troubleshoot electrical system problems following detailed operational and maintenance procedures of existing and new electrical systems including lighting controls.
Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays and panels, and assist more qualified personnel with the 12,470‑volt campus power system.
Survey buildings and perform maintenance on equipment in a multi‑trade working environment.
Perform all work in accordance with best safety management practices.
Be available for on‑call and emergency repairs as needed and perform all other duties as assigned.
Assist with painting, flooring, plumbing, HVAC and event-related tasks in addition to electrical work.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $55,000 – $65,000 ($26.44 – $28.84 hourly) depending on qualifications.
