
Litigation Paralegal

Bennett Bigelow & Leedom, P.S., a recognized leader in Health Care Law and Trial Practice, is seeking a full-time paralegal to join its Seattle office. Specifically, the firm is interested in candidates who have experience and an interest in civil litigation, medical malpractice, personal injury, and insurance defense. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of paralegal experience, including litigation and familiarity with medical records. This is a hybrid position with a requirement of at least two (2) days on site per week; more days may be occasionally required based on business need.
Responsibilities
Prepare legal documents under attorney supervision, including initial discovery, witness disclosures, exhibits, jury demands, stipulations, authorizations, and subpoenas for records.
Review medical records and prepare medical chronologies.
Support attorney case management, overseeing and processing incoming discovery, logging and preparing records, and document production.
Coordinate management of case schedules, calendaring, and trial preparation with legal assistants and trial teams. Assist with retaining experts.
Develop proficiency with software and technology tools with strict adherence to procedures for secure management of medical records.
Conduct research including medical topics, licensing and board certifications, witnesses, experts, and background checks.
Accurately and promptly capture and record billable and non-billable work.
Overtime may be required when preparing for and during trials.
Required Skills
Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures and case management.
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in creating detailed medical chronologies.
3+ years of paralegal experience; litigation, medical malpractice, personal injury, or insurance defense experience strongly preferred.
Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organization and attention to detail.
Skilled at time management and working effectively under pressure in high-paced and dynamic environments.
Skilled at exercising judgment in decision-making when working independently.
Proficiency with MS Office applications and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience preferred with ProLaw, Westlaw, and Everchron.
Associate or undergraduate degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred, or experience demonstrating required skills.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation range of $80,000-95,000 annual salary depending on experience.
Discretionary annual bonus.
Paid time off (PTO) of 18 days per year, with one additional PTO day for each year of service, up to a total of 25 days of PTO accrual per year.
Paid holidays (10.5 days per year).
Bereavement leave (1-3 days) and Jury Duty leave (up to 10 days).
