Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
– Full‑time location: St. Petersburg, FL.
Overview
As a Medical Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. The role is in a fast‑paced environment that encourages teamwork, quality and offers opportunities for personal growth.
Responsibilities
Use automated analyzers, microscopes and other diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses and diseases.
Conduct diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or biopsy samples received in bulk each day.
Set up, run, and read lab tests, then release results in accordance with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Specialize in one or more of: Hematology, Chemistry/Endocrinology, Urinalysis, Cytology, Immunology/Serology.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent (education & experience). A science‑related degree is preferred.
Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT, MT) experience is a plus.
Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating equipment such as microscopes and analyzers.
Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, attention to detail, and ability to work reliably and precisely.
Physical ability to stand, sit, lift up to 50 lb, use a computer, and meet vision requirements.
Understanding of potential exposure to biohazards, zoonotic agents and hazardous chemicals.
