Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform clinical laboratory testing at a federal metropolitan detention center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. You will conduct hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, and microbiology testing to support clinical decision-making for the incarcerated patient population, maintaining CLIA compliance and quality control standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform clinical laboratory testing in hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, serology, and basic microbiology
Collect, process, and analyze patient specimens following CLSI standards and chain-of-custody procedures
Operate and maintain laboratory analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, and point-of-care testing equipment
Perform and document quality control testing, proficiency testing, and instrument calibrations
Review and release laboratory results, flagging critical values for immediate provider notification
Maintain laboratory supply inventory and coordinate specimen send-outs to reference laboratories
Support infectious disease screening programs including TB, HIV, hepatitis, and STI testing
Ensure CLIA, CAP, and BOP laboratory compliance standards are maintained
Required Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
ASCP certification (MLT or MLS) or equivalent national certification
Current BLS certification
Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience
U.S. citizenship required
Ability to pass federal background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency
Bachelor degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MLS/MT preferred)
Point-of-care testing coordinator experience
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $58,000 - $76,000 annually
