
Medical Technician

Responsibilities
Triage patients and record consistent and accurate documentation of patients’ medical history
Perform prescreening exams
Check vision and identify chief complaints
Tonometry and dilation
Administer medications to patients in the clinic and provide patient education
Obtain detailed health information from patients and document health histories
Conduct various diagnostic tests (Fundus photos, OCT, Visual Fields); may include some advanced diagnostic testing
Assist with maintaining an efficient clinic experience
Assist physicians with ophthalmic procedures
Maintain medical/surgical supplies
Utilize EHR with all HIPAA standards
Prepare the examination room and the patient’s medical record
Understand basic healthcare terminology
Drive a company-provided vehicle that may hold employees and office equipment
Manage incoming phone calls and document communications within patient platforms such as NexTech, Pressia On-Call, or other relevant sources
Qualifications
Must have completed an accredited medical assisting program and a supervised externship in a healthcare setting
Solid communication and customer service skills
Work experience as a medical assistant performing administrative duties or in a similar role in a healthcare environment preferred
Ability to use a computer to complete administrative tasks
High school diploma or GED
Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work in person
Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology with a basic understanding of healthcare terminology
Ability to multitask
High energy with a positive and professional attitude
Strong communication skills and a team-player approach
Critical time management skills
Demonstrated ability to interact with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance companies with poise and proper etiquette
Commitment to ongoing training and education

Willing to train
Ability to lift more than 30 lbs
Ability to converse with patients – speaking and hearing

Compensation
$16.50 - $18.50 hourly
