Job Summary and Description:

EPRI's Data Driven Decision Making (3DM) research focus area is looking for a student employee to help with its R&D into implementation of AI and other advanced data science tools in the energy supply area.

This internship is based in our Charlotte, North Carolina office.

Responsibilities:

Support 3DM and Digital Transformation (DX) efforts: wiki site, literature search, stakeholder meetings.

Support data science efforts: data cleaning/labeling, exploratory data analysis, data modeling, and dashboards related to large language models, computer/machine vision, and timeseries.

Support robotics research: literature search, code creation, field demo logistics.

All tasks performed under supervision of the project manager.

Education & Experience:

Be a junior or senior undergraduate or a graduate (master’s or Ph.D.) candidate.

Demonstrate organizational skills such as completed group engineering design projects or club leadership.

Have coding capability in python, R, and/or SQL; C++, HTML, and other languages are a plus; provide a project/repo demonstrating this capability.

Willing to take on challenges and work with unfamiliar concepts and tasks.

Be a thought leader and offer suggestions, ideas, and alternatives around new techniques and technologies.

Cooperate with other summer student employees to exchange knowledge and learn best practices.

Communicate proactively, ask questions, and learn from technical mentors, engineers, and managers at EPRI.

Hourly Rate:

Undergraduate: $16‑29 per hour

Masters: $27‑33 per hour

Ph.D.: $31‑36 per hour

Rates are estimates and may vary based on education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data. Rates may also adjust based on geographic location.

Benefits:
Students are not eligible for EPRI’s benefit programs. However, students are eligible for Social Security, State Disability Insurance, and Workers’ Compensation Insurance.

Relocation:
Students may be required to relocate to the EPRI office. Relocation assistance is not provided; the student is responsible for covering all relocation costs.

EPRI participates in E-Verify to confirm work status.
