Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment, including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. The technician also troubleshoots and repairs facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, reverse osmosis units, and water‑filtration equipment, and performs general plant maintenance. They work directly with machine operators, supervisors, preventative maintenance mechanics, and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues that arise during shift and propose solutions to complex and recurring problems to senior mechanics and management.

Essential Functions

Use schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other plant equipment.

Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s processes.

Maintain industrial control systems.

Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs safely and on schedule.

Fill in for a production operator as needed.

Create and report repairs throughout each shift; complete required work‑order paperwork and document parts and material usage.

Follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.

Use personal protective equipment as required.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and plant uptime.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

4 years of experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.

4 years of experience in this position.

4 years of experience managing people or projects.

Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.

Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.

Skill in using shop equipment such as presses, bench grinders, drill presses, mills, lathes, and assorted power tools.

Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges).

Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific plant or machine center.

Own personal toolbox and basic tools.

Preferred Qualifications

6 years of experience in a similar manufacturing environment.

6 years of experience in this position.

6 years of experience managing people or projects.

Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.

Familiarity with variable frequency drive (VFD), servo drives, servo motor, rotary press, filler, thermodynamics, heat transfer, plastics processing, Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment.

Experience with HVAC, chillers, and/or air compressors.

Skilled in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematic troubleshooting.

Fabrication skills such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).

Experience with 480 VAC and 24 VDC electrical systems.

Repair of variable frequency drives, servo motors, controllers, communication systems (ASI‑bus, CAN‑bus, Profi‑bus, Ethernet), PLC I/O cards, and safety modules.

Education

Minimum required: High School Diploma.

Preferred: Associate’s Degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation, or a similar specialization.
