Architect
Your Role at BSI
With the focus to serve the client and provide superior project delivery, the architecture group works closely with all engineering disciplines and provides technical leadership for the team. Our Architecture team consults our clients regarding designs for new buildings, restoring and conserving old buildings and developing new ways of using existing buildings. They provide experienced direction on developing project programs and design. Leads in the development of projects from preliminary through detailed construction documents. The Architecture group performs in all of BSI market segments and collaborates with all project team members.
To support collaboration, mentorship opportunities, and effective project execution, BSI Engineering has adopted a hybrid work schedule in which employees are in the office a minimum of three days per week.
Responsibilities and Scope
Researches, programs, plans, designs, and administers building projects for clients, applying knowledge of architectural design, construction detailing, construction procedures, zoning, building codes, building materials and systems
Contributes to development of discipline scope, deliverables, assumptions, and estimates budget for proposals
Ensures quality and technical accuracy of project deliverables
Prepares and presents design proposals to Clients
Verifies discipline's design is accurate and coordinated within the 3D model and/or site scans
Delegates work and supervises Designers on a project
Provides clear direction to team regarding project scope, schedule, budget and expectations of quality
Inspecting sites and examining buildings to evaluate conditions
Plans and programs layout of project(s); coordinates and integrates engineering elements into a unified design for client review and approval
Has a good working knowledge of Building Codes
Considers other disciplines and overall project requirements during the project lifecycle
Identifies and communicates scope change for discipline
Participates in interactive planning sessions to ensure scope, schedule, costs and quality are aligned to project objectives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or equivalent required
5-10 years of relevant post-graduate experience
Architectural License required
Working Knowledge of Revit
experience working in an industrial, pharmaceutical or GMP environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent presentation skills
Exceptional decision-making skills
Proficient at setting priorities and managing multiple tasks
Strong leadership skills
Positive conflict resolution skills
Ability to analyze and critically assess problems
Strong knowledge of general building systems functions and design
Strong knowledge construction materials, construction methods, and industry standards
Strong knowledge of all necessary building codes and life safety practices in design
Strong ability to assess and communicate critical problems
Working knowledge of BIM modeling, Revit and AutoCAD and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC); working knowledge in Presentation software (Photoshop, SketchUp); Proficiency in Word, Excel, etc.
