An established 50-year Long Island–based Real Estate Development, Contracting, and Construction Management firm specializing in commercial/industrial, institutional, and multi-family residential projects is seeking a results-driven Construction Field Supervisor / Superintendent with 10+ years of experience in ground-up multifamily and mixed-use construction, specializing in comprehensive horizontal construction management. Proven expertise in directing all facets of site infrastructure, including earthwork, utilities and paving operations for large, scaled multifamily and mixed-use projects or projects valued at up to 100M.
The ideal candidate will bring strong on-site leadership, coordination skills, and a comprehensive understanding of construction operations, with demonstrated ability to support and manage project phases that include site development and infrastructure work, while coordinating effectively with internal teams, consultants, and trade contractors.
Skills Required
10+ years of commercial construction experience specializing in Horizontal Construction Management for large scaled multifamily and mixed-use developments.
Ground-up construction expertise.
Extensive site development and infrastructure experience.
Proficient in managing horizontal construction scopes.
Expertise in earthwork, utility installation, and paving operations.
Skilled in project mobilization and site logistics planning.
Proven experience with grading, foundation preparation, and civil engineering coordination.
Strong understanding of SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan) regulations and implementation.
Proven success coordinating trades and managing active jobsites.
Experience with project reporting, scheduling, and budget oversight.
Ability to work in a team environment and utilize the capabilities of our support staff.
Extensive knowledge and experience in plans examination, all disciplines (civil, architectural, structural, MEP), and coordination.
Comprehensive background with multi-family residential developments including experience meeting project schedules and completion.
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks within a defined time.
OSHA 30-hour Certificate.
Familiarity with interpreting Building Codes.
Excellent computer skills in the following: MS Excel, MS Project, MS Outlook, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, including preparing and working with forms, Bluebeam, AutoCAD a plus, Procore, RedTeam or similar construction software a plus, Citrix Sharefile or other cloud-based platforms a plus.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, paired with effective business acumen and superior judgment. Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of construction, with the ability to communicate clearly—both verbally and in writing—with clients and internal personnel, work independently or collaboratively, and execute efficiently as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of site development and horizontal construction activities from initial grading and utility installation through paving and final landscaping for large-scale multifamily projects.
Coordinate effectively with civil engineers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure seamless integration of horizontal site work with vertical construction.
Manage all site infrastructure elements, including but not limited to earthwork, storm drainage systems, sanitary sewer systems, water lines, and public/private roadways.
Implement and manage the project's SWPPP program, ensuring strict adherence to all environmental and safety regulations on site.
Develop and maintain comprehensive schedules specifically for site work operations, ensuring critical milestones are met and potential conflicts with the vertical build are proactively addressed.
Conduct daily inspections of horizontal work to enforce quality control standards, ensuring all work conforms to plans, specifications, and local codes.
In-depth knowledge of CSI, AIA and Master Format construction requirements common to the industry.
Conduct on site construction meeting.
Prepare and issue on site construction meeting minutes.
Conduct site safety meeting with all subcontractors and field personnel.
Monitor site safety on jobsite.
Education and Experience
10+ years’ experience in Construction Supervision.
