Job Purpose And Summary
As a Pharmacy Technician you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within a store. Technicians are often the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately and providing caring service that exceeds expectations.
Responsibilities
Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: create heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; and demonstrate compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law and directed by leadership, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, and managing returns‑to‑stocks.
Contribute to a high‑performing team, embracing a growth mindset and seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge needed to better assist patients.
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; volunteer to travel to stores in the market as needed.
Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards; comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping, and privacy protection.
Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and optionally staffing off‑site clinics) when allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.
Support immunizations, including completing additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status, educating patients about vaccines, monitoring adverse reactions, reporting events, reviewing patient information, and managing vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
If the state board does not set a minimum age, be at least 16 years old.
If the state board does not set a minimum education requirement, have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or an equivalency program.
State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.

Use math to solve problems such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense and calculating day’s supply.
Problem Resolution:
Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action among multiple options.
Physical Demands:
Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead and move items.
Control precision and adjust machines quickly.
Stoop and lift up to 20 lbs (frequently up to 10 lbs).
Perform tasks requiring close visual acuity.
Communicate spoken instructions accurately and receive detailed oral information.
Any additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.
