County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) - Bedford County Developmental & Behavior

Bedford‑Somerset DBHS seeks a County Caseworker to build rapport with consumers of all ages, advocate for them, monitor service delivery, and link individuals to additional supports. Responsibilities include providing direct case management, developing individualized service plans, maintaining records, delivering crisis intervention, and coordinating resources such as transportation.

Work Schedule

Full‑time; 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

Hours may vary to meet consumer needs and occasional emergency requirements.

Reports to the DBHS Office in Somerset.

Telework: After 3 months, eligible for hybrid on‑site/remote work following 6‑month probation.

Qualifications

Two years as a County Social Services Aide 3 plus two years of college coursework (≥12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related fields).

or

Bachelor’s degree, supplemented by 12 credits in the aforementioned fields.

or

Equivalent combination: 12 credits plus one year as a County Social Services Aide 3 or similar paraprofessional case management role.

Educational requirements considered met within two months of graduation.

Legal and Background Requirements

Pass a background investigation.

Under the Older Adult Protective Services Act: conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Under the Child Protective Services Law: conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
