This is a remote role working with the Rural Health team in South Dakota.
Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions. The NP performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, develops appropriate plans of care, and conducts ongoing evaluations. The NP may also perform additional duties such as precepting a small group of learners.

Essential Functions
Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develops appropriate plans of care and follow‑up based on outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
Consistently provides high‑quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
Qualifications
Education:
Master’s Degree in Nursing required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
Licenses and Credentials:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, MA.
Experience
2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience; 1‑2 years required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
