Job Description

The CDSM Senior External Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting clinical drug supply contracting, payment activity, supplier coordination, financial tracking, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure continuity of services and effective business operations.
This position serves as a key subject matter expert on internal systems and processes related to contracts, invoices, payments, reporting, and supplier management, while also contributing to strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and performance improvement.
Responsibilities

Contracting, Payments, and Financial Reconciliation

Responsible for clinical drug supply contracting and payment activity, through final payment reconciliation.
Ensure contract requests are submitted on time with accurate business and financial sourcing information to avoid or minimize delays, and monitor contract-associated spend to proactively alert stakeholders when purchase orders need additional funds.
Confirm accuracy of supplier invoices based on contract details and guidance from Project Managers overseeing supplier work; authorize payment of invoices according to AbbVie guidelines.
Serve as the primary process owner and main point of contact for resolving supplier invoice discrepancies and payment issues, ensuring timely investigation, issue resolution, and compliance with AbbVie policies and contractual requirements.
Own and support the tracking of actuals and forecast updates for the LBE for CDSM external vendor contracts and purchase orders, ensuring accurate financial monitoring, timely updates, alignment with business assumptions, and effective communication of variances, risks, and funding needs to relevant stakeholders.
Systems and Reporting

Become the primary subject matter expert on internal systems used to submit, track, and reconcile contracts and related invoices/payments.
Generate monthly KPI metric reports and actionable reports supporting CDSM leadership and communicate them to key stakeholders.
Utilize AI tools to improve performance.
Supplier and Vendor Management

Collaborate with Department Management, Vendor Management, Procurement, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to secure Third Party Depot and Manufacturing services from outside suppliers.
Facilitate management of suppliers’ financial information, including updates to existing suppliers and onboarding of new suppliers.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Strategic Support

Build collaborative relationships with Project Managers, Category Managers, Outsourcing, CDO, etc. to reduce waste and maximize output.
Lead or participate on cross‑functional teams to support CDSM strategic imperatives.
Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives and best practices across the company.
Act as backup for the procurement of comparator drugs, labels, and commodities needed to support Clinical Studies.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Marketing Analysis, Operations, Economics, Logistics, Business Administration, Communications, Statistics, or relevant business experience preferred).
Financial experience required.
Experience supporting contract administration, invoice reconciliation, and payment processes.
Strong analytical, organizational, and financial tracking skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across Procurement, Finance, Vendor Management, Project Management, and other internal stakeholder groups.
Strong communication skills and ability to provide reporting and insights to leadership.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
Additional Information – Compensation & Benefits

The posted base pay range is the maximum range that the company intends to offer for this role; actual compensation depends on geographic location, performance, and other factors.
The role includes a comprehensive benefits package: paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick leave), medical/dental/vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan to eligible employees.
Eligible for short‑term incentive programs.
All compensation is subject to company discretion and applicable law. Pay is considered earned, vested, and determinable only when earned.
