About the Role
Alcoa is looking for a talented HR Specialist to join our team in Massena, NY. The position focuses on executing tactical HR and administrative functions in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment to support business goals. Key responsibilities include supporting documentation, managing local HR processes, administering employee benefits, coordinating with vendors, developing workforce analytics, partnering with IT and corporate HR teams, monitoring leave trends, ensuring audit compliance, promoting values and employee relations, liaising for community events, and delivering engagement and training programs.
Support HR and plant leadership with document preparation, data entry, file organization, mailings, and routine audits.
Administer local HR processes including hiring/onboarding, compensation and benefits support, EEO/AA compliance, and leave programs (FMLA, NYS Paid Leave, Disability).
Serve as a primary operational contact for employee benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and related programs.
Coordinate with external benefits vendors to resolve escalated issues and ensure service accuracy.
Develop and maintain workforce analytics dashboards (attendance and leave exposure) to inform operational decisions.
Partner with IT and corporate HRIS teams on system enhancements, integrations, and cross‑functional reporting.
Monitor leave utilization trends, identify high‑risk indicators, and recommend corrective measures to HR leadership.
Assist with audit, compliance, and policy requirements to ensure alignment with corporate, state, and federal regulations.
Promote Alcoa’s values and support employee relations activities related to development, D&I, ethics, and compliance.
Serve as liaison for community events and partnerships.
Coordinate and help deliver employee engagement activities and training/development programs.
Working Conditions
Primarily onsite within an industrial manufacturing environment.
Frequent collaboration with hourly and salaried employees working varying shifts.
Routine presence in production areas, which may involve exposure to noise, extreme heat/cold, and industrial equipment.
What you can bring to the role
Associate’s degree in business or human resources required.
2–4 years of experience in an HR support, HR coordinator, or HR operations role preferred.
Advanced analytical skills with experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
Good organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with local leaders and the HR team.
Ability to work well within a fast‑paced environment with varying priorities.
Effective communication (written and verbal) with the ability to partner across teams.
Availability to work different schedules. Standard hours will be set but need to be flexible. There will be events that may require you to stay late or start early in the morning.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary: $74,500 - $99,500 USD annually.
Competitive compensation packages, including pay‑for‑performance variable pay as well as recognition and rewards programs.
Flexible spending accounts and generous employer contribution to the HSA.
401(k), employer match up to 6%, additional employer retirement income contribution (no vesting period), and a non‑qualified deferred compensation plan.
15 vacation days prorated in the 1st year based on hire date.
