Job Title: Quality Technician
Job Description
The Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring product quality by performing inspections, utilizing precision measurement tools, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to maintain high‑quality standards. This role requires the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, independently resolve quality issues, and effectively engage with General Motors (GM) both at our facility and their site. The Quality Technician will also address cosmetic defects, manage deviation requests and suggestions, and support organizational decision‑making by working closely with all departments. This position will train on 1st shift and then will move to 2nd Shift (4pm-12:30am).
Responsibilities
Perform inspections using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and additional quality measurement tools.
Ensure real‑time quality support for production and problem‑solving on the floor.
Collaborate with GM representatives at our facility and on‑site to address quality concerns and ensure compliance with customer standards.
Identify, document, and manage cosmetic defects, ensuring parts meet aesthetic and functional requirements.
Review and process deviation requests and suggest alternative solutions when deviations are required to maintain production flow.
Work closely with all departments (Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, and Logistics) to ensure quality decisions align with overall business goals.
Provide input on supplier quality concerns, supporting investigations and corrective actions when needed.
Work independently, managing tasks without constant supervision while maintaining accountability for quality performance.
Assist in root cause analysis and problem‑solving activities to reduce scrap, improve quality, and enhance processes.
Support internal audits, document control, and adherence to IATF quality standards.
Qualifications
Experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools and ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and GD&T.
Familiarity with cosmetic defect inspection and quality acceptance criteria.
Ability to work with customers, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams to drive quality improvements.
Self‑motivated, independent worker with strong problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with quality reporting tools.
Understanding of deviation processes and how to propose viable solutions that maintain production flow while upholding quality.
Familiarity with PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, and problem‑solving methodologies is a plus.
Work Environment
Fast‑paced manufacturing environment with frequent interaction across departments. May require occasional travel to GM’s facility for quality‑related concerns. The role requires the ability to stand, walk, and move within the production floor for extended periods and occasional lifting of materials up to 40 lbs. The work environment is an automotive supplier manufacturing setting. The position is on the 2nd shift from 4:00 PM-12:30 AM, with potential overtime extending to 2:00 AM. Initial training will be conducted on the 1st shift.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $27.00/hr.
