What You Can Expect To Work On
Niowave is an engineering playground where you will be engaged in supporting processes across multiple major programs that have a direct impact on cancer patient survival. The Mechanical Engineering Supervisor role encompasses leadership, technical excellence, and operational execution, while fostering a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and the ideal staff member experience.
Oversees the mechanical design, development, testing, and upgrades for superconducting particle accelerators, radiochemistry equipment, facility and periphery equipment with an emphasis on robust designs that can operate long‑term in a challenging production environment
Leads day‑to‑day technical execution of the mechanical engineering team, including assignment of work, technical guidance, and prioritization to meet schedule, safety, and quality objectives
Ensures mechanical designs meet applicable environmental, health, and radiological safety requirements and are executed in compliance with cGMP practices, policies, and procedures
Participates in and facilitates Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews: reviews drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and specifications to improve manufacturability, serviceability, and assembly quality
Performs and checks engineering calculations and analyses related to strength of materials, temperature, pressure, force, tolerance stack‑ups, and other factors relevant to machine and tool design
Sets KPIs for the mechanical engineering group, communicates key program updates, and drives improvements in quality, safety, and productivity to ensure KPIs are met
Leads all operational efforts and identifies process improvements to increase efficiency and support strategic growth
Leads and inspires a diverse team of skilled professionals
What You Need To Succeed
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent industry experience
8+ years of mechanical engineering experience
3+ years of supervisory experience including day‑to‑day activities of a team of 6 or more with demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams, establish career development tracks, and succession planning

General safety practices applicable to industrial environments (EG LOTO awareness, lift safety fundamentals) and a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
Applying mechanical expertise in a regulated environment
Great to Have
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent industry experience
10+ years of mechanical engineering experience
5+ years of mechanical engineering knowledge for accelerator development/operations
Hands‑on experience utilizing lean manufacturing principles for continuous process improvements and/or certification (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S)
5+ years of supervisory experience including day‑to‑day activities of a team of 8 or more with demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams, establish career development tracks, and succession planning

Full‑time position
The company’s standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts
This position will have regular working hours Monday – Friday within the standard operating hours
There is an expectation of adjusting working hours outside the standard hours to meet operational requirements
Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the role
