Job Responsibilities

Inspecting and diagnosing heavy equipment to identify potential issues and ensure proper functioning using diagnostic tools and software.

Execute repairs or replacements of worn and damaged components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic and electrical systems, and perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.

Troubleshoot complex problems by diagnosing issues with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Operate and test equipment after repairs to verify proper functioning and make necessary adjustments.

Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance performed, and parts used.

Communicate with equipment owners, operators, and coworkers to understand needs, explain repairs, provide recommendations, and ensure smooth operations.

Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations when working with heavy machinery.

Work Conditions

May be required to work first shift (0700‑1530) or second shift (0830‑1700).

Work performed inside and outside enclosed buildings, involving sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching.

Position requires physical dexterity and strength due to large equipment handling.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent with post‑secondary certificate or associate's degree in a relevant field such as diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics preferred.

U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, OEM, or related trade school training preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of heavy equipment repair experience; level of technician will depend on years of direct experience.

Ability to read, write, and follow technical directives correctly.

Highly desired/preferred additional skills include:
OEM certifications.

Familiarity with MTU, Cummins, Caterpillar, or Steyr Diesel Engines.

CDL license with a clean driving record.

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy equipment systems, including engines (diesel and gasoline), hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, and brake systems.

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for modern heavy equipment.

Physical strength and dexterity needed for lifting heavy parts and tools, and working in awkward positions.

Ability to operate, maintain, and repair small craft tailers, transporters, and prime movers.

Effective troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills to identify root causes and determine solutions.

Attention to detail and precision for accurate records.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to convey information clearly to clients, supervisors, and team members.

Current Driver's License required; must be insured through the company's vehicle insurance policy while operating work vehicles during working hours.

U.S. Citizenship required; must obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to start date and maintain it throughout employment.

All candidates will be required to pass background screening including SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
