TNAA TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Elmira, New York. The assignment is 13 weeks long, 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts.

We are looking for Progressive Care Unit RNs with 1–2 years of recent acute care experience. As a PCU Travel Nurse you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough for ICU care. RNs will use computerized equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information, detect changes, and intervene in life‑threatening or emergency situations. Close observation is necessary as many PCU patients receive complex medications, sometimes through intravenous lines that may need adjustment or titration. The PCU RN is also known as a step‑down nurse; the unit may be cardiac, medical, neuro, surgical step‑down or ER holding.
Key Responsibilities
Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
Initiate corrective action whenever monitoring equipment indicates adverse symptomatology.
Physical Demands
RNs must be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. They must be able to lift 20 pounds easily and may have to lift patients up to 50 pounds at times. The fast‑paced environment requires good stress‑coping skills and the ability to interact with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Requirements
ACLS, BLS, NIH, 2 Years. *Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
