Responsibilities
Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children and establish healthy behaviors to prepare them to transition back home.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) performs direct patient care duties in a residential behavioral health setting. The MHT is responsible for supervising patients in treatment, recreation, educational settings, and other activities of daily living to assess changes in their social behaviors and clinical status. MHTs have the primary responsibility for ensuring patient safety. They are responsible for understanding and using the least restrictive interventions per facility policy, and for successfully avoiding seclusion and restraint whenever possible.

Sign On Bonus $1200.00

Starting at $17.50 per hour. Salary offers are based on education and experience to promote pay equity.

Schedule: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, 40 hours a week with rotating weekends off.

Shift Differential offered 3 pm – 7 am.

Mandatory overtime may be required based on facility needs.

Qualifications
HSD/GED Required.

Preferred: Bachelor Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human services or a similar field (increase in wages).

Preferred six-month experience in residential psychiatry or other childcare facility/agency experience in a comparable position.

Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening to work in healthcare (AHCA) and a pre-employment drug test.

Additional Requirements

Must set and maintain therapeutic distance and boundaries with clients during treatment and following discharge.

Must read, understand, and follow policies, procedures, and written treatment plans.

May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.

Successful completion of CPR Certification and Handle With Care training prior to assisting with a restraining procedure, and within 7 days of employment.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Physical agility to manage patients: push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
