
Civil Designer - Water & Wastewater

Timmons Group is seeking a talented Civil Designer
to join our dynamic Water/Wastewater Group in our Virginia Beach, VA office. The qualified candidate will perform civil site design tasks for a variety of water/wastewater infrastructure projects in a fast‑paced environment that encourages teamwork, training and ownership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Use professional judgment to independently complete assigned engineering designs.
Lead and execute civil site design tasks across diverse infrastructure projects.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers and mentor junior engineers.
Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy.
Make impactful design decisions that align with client goals and project timelines.
Identify and resolve technical, scheduling, or financial challenges.
Support construction oversight and respond to contractor inquiries.
Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, and client communications.
Act as a technical expert on assigned projects and as Project Manager on smaller or specialty projects as assigned.
Skills and Requirements
At least three years of design/engineering experience in municipal infrastructure.
Intermediate to advanced ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
Experience with additional engineering automation tools such as Revit or BIM 360 (preferred).
Strong technical verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to read technical literature and engineering plans.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to apply professional knowledge to routine and non‑routine tasks.
Effective two‑way communication skills for collaboration with internal staff.
