OVERVIEW
Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Life Sciences Laboratory Planner / Architect to lead the architectural design of projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This position requires U.S. Citizenship and will be located in one of our U.S. based offices.
Salary range: $108,000.00 - $132,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Licensure as an Architect in the United States or Canada is strongly preferred.
If not currently licensed, demonstrate a plan to obtain licensure within two years of joining Merrick.
Possess experience in all aspects of life science architectural practice including planning, programming, schematic design, production of construction documents, and construction administration.
Handle major design decisions, including spatial layout, aesthetic elements, material detailing, and coordination of engineered building systems.
Manage architectural projects and demonstrate skills in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Work in a design team environment, directing and mentoring junior architects and designers, and delegating work as required.
Perform building code reviews and produce reports such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and recommendations.
Ensure internal communication and coordination of design efforts.
Coordinate all support activities required to complete design efforts and quality assurance processes.
Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule and budget commitments, and maintain attendance and punctuality.
Meet with clients to prepare and validate proposed scope of work.
Maintain project cost control.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Seven (7) years minimum experience as a Life Science Laboratory Planner / Architect.
Registered architect in the United States, or ability to become registered within two years of hire.
Strong problem solving skills.
Ability to facilitate and support design charrettes.
Experience in all phases of design with a track record of completed, successful projects.
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, 3D modeling programs (SketchUp & Revit preferred) and Adobe Creative Suite.
Skilled in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint.
Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
Client projects for this position require the ability and willingness to obtain U.S. government security clearances.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Life Science and/or Containment Laboratory project experience preferred.
Ability to visually communicate concepts to clients.
Demonstrated ability to effectively create presentations and communicate concepts to clients and associates using various software applications.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
Ability to consistently meet deadlines and complete tasks as previously defined.
Ability to travel as needed.
Ability to write and edit specifications.
