CONTROLLER

As Freeform’s Controller, you will own and execute our accounting operations. You will perform a wide variety of duties including spend tracking/forecasting, invoice payment, payroll, month‑end closing, and tax compliance. You will also work with the engineering team on purchasing activities, including supplier interaction, managing POs, and price negotiations. Responsibilities
Lead the accounting function, building the team, systems, and processes needed to support growth and scalability
Oversee the general ledger, month‑end close, and GAAP‑compliant financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timely close, and strong reconciliations
Own all payment‑related activities such as vendor payments, leases, payroll, and more
Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
Maintain tax documentation and ensure business taxes are properly categorized and filed
Partner with engineering to ensure BOM accuracy and analyze manufacturing variances
Analyze spend and recommend ideas to C‑Suite to reduce costs related to categories such as capital equipment, industrial supplies, chemicals, raw material, and non‑engineering categories
Provide reporting for board meetings, investor relations, and venture capital raises
Act as a force multiplier to executives regarding finance and accounting best practices; strategize and execute ways to improve operational efficiency, reduce spend, and lower costs
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration
Certified Professional Accountant (CPA)
5+ years of professional experience in accounting
Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain environments
Experience in inventory accounting, standard costing & cost accounting, WIP accounting, revenue recognition, and capex & fixed asset accounting
Nice to Have
Formal experience as a controller or senior accounting leadership role
Big 4 accounting experience
Advanced degree in business, finance, or accounting
Experience working in a high‑growth or tech startup environment
Experience with audit‑readiness
Advanced Excel skills
Experience with QuickBooks and other ERP systems
No job too big or small mindset

Based in Hawthorne, our vertically integrated facility brings technology development, R&D, and production together under one roof.
Our fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment is built on close collaboration, and as such, this role requires full‑time onsite presence (five days a week), with very limited exceptions.

Compensation
As a growing company, the salary range is intentionally wide as we determine the most appropriate package for each individual taking into consideration years of experience, educational background, and unique skills and abilities as demonstrated throughout the interview process. Our intent is to offer a salary that is commensurate for the company’s current stage of development and allows the employee to grow and develop within a role.
In addition to the significant stock option package, the estimated salary range for this role is $150,000–$200,000 per year. The exact title and scope will be determined throughout and at the conclusion of the interview process, including review from the Board of Directors.
