
Behavior Specialist - Education

The Behavioral Specialist at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health will provide direction and mentorship to education staff on behavioral strategies, maintain appropriate behavior and order, address students’ actions, ensure attendance at activities, counsel residents as necessary, serve as a role model for students dealing with academic, personal, social, and vocational challenges, provide crisis intervention when needed, and assist the program in completing projects assigned by the principal or designee.

Salary
Hourly wage varying with education level:
High‑school diploma/GED: $21.50 – $23.00 per hour
BA/BS: $22.50 – $24.07 per hour
MA/MS or higher: $23.50 – $25.14 per hour

RBT Certification preferred.
Experience
At least two years of experience working with I/DD individuals in an educational or residential setting, with at least one year in a crisis intervention role.
Physical Requirements
Free of dependency and abuse of substances.
Significant, prolonged, and frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and lifting of 70 lbs. or more.
Must be able to singlehandedly effect the initial restraint of children and adolescents weighing between 75 and 150 lbs. using standard crisis intervention procedures.
Possible exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.
