Overview
The firm's ambitious growth agenda and increasing complexity has led to a commitment to invest in the firm's internal support functions. An integral part of this is taking the finance function to a level unsurpassed in the professional services sector. In turn, a key element of this investment is the recruitment of a Tax Accountant. This position will play a key role in helping to bring our Finance function to the next level.

Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for compiling and preparing tax schedules for the preparation of the U.S. federal, state, international and local government tax returns; including but not limited to income, business tax, sales/use tax and property tax returns.

Assists with being the primary liaison with the firm’s outside tax advisors; providing information to external accountants with respect to the preparation of U.S. federal, state and international partnership tax returns.

Works with the Tax Supervisor to ensure department objectives are met timely and accurately, and firm procedures are aligned with firm goals and global tax strategy.

Cash management including monthly bank reconciliation, partner capital calls, partner distributions and tracking investment funding/redemptions.

Prepares timely and accurate statements and analyses for distribution to partners.

Works with partners and their personal tax accountants throughout the year to answer tax questions related to K‑1s and other items.

Coordinates and assists with audits as they occur.

Assumes responsibility for maintaining the highest level of confidentiality of all financial and systems-related information.

Maintains knowledge of trends, developments and new technologies impacting the department. Researches global tax issues using CCH, BNA and Lexis.

Participates in departmental project teams and task forces designed to streamline workflow and / or resolve issues; assists with various firm and departmental projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Accounting

Public Accounting experience, CPA preferred

2‑5 years of related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities

Superior computer software skills with a particular expertise in Excel and Microsoft Access Database

Knowledge of Elite, report writers and databases preferred but not required

Experience with equity partners capital and investment partnerships (partnership accounting)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Must be a critical thinker able to question what is and recommend what should be

Creative problem solver

Team player with a strong work ethic

Compensation And Total Rewards Package
Ropes & Gray offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package, health and well‑being benefits, personal and professional development, career growth opportunities, and a collegial and supportive culture. The anticipated pay range for this role is $77,000 – $117,450 for the Boston office. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, educational background, external market data and internal equity.

Working Conditions
This position requires hybrid on‑site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on‑site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
