Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, the Social Media Content Creator, reporting to the Social Media Manager, is responsible for supporting the Social Media Manager and producing content for Stony Brook Medicine's institutional and executive social media platforms. This role will focus on content designed to support Stony Brook Medicine's mission, market brand messaging and to share information across channels.

Responsibilities

Produce content in line with the content calendars managed by the social media manager for SBM's primary social media accounts, as well as accounts for Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Children's Hospital, and for SBM's Executive Vice President. This includes attending events and capturing content in real time.

Work with photographers, designers, and videographers to create multimedia content designed for cross-platform integration to support SBM's brand pillars and mission, in addition to creating this multimedia content yourself when necessary. This includes filming, editing, captioning, reformatting, etc.

Attend bi-monthly social media check-in meetings with others across SBU and SBM who manage social media.

Attend weekly social media collaboration meetings with others across SBM who manage social media.

Use best practices to ensure content is optimized for each platform.

Using the latest social media trends and functionalities, consistently come up with new features and campaigns to elevate SBM's social presence and ensure SBM is on the most relevant social platforms.

Actively monitor across social media platforms (social listening) for potential crises, as well as finding opportunities for engagement and reposting/proposing social stories and coverage of events that support the content team's calendar themes and target audiences.

Cover events in real-time as needed (commencement, white coat ceremony, check presentations, patient discharges, etc.)

Stay up-to-date on social and industry trends via research, conferences and networking.

Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Media, Journalism, Communications or related field.

Minimum 1 year of experience in social media content creation/writing and managing projects from conception to organization and fulfillment across digital media channels.

Thorough understanding and practice with common social media applications, including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, Threads and LinkedIn required.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional experience in project and reputation management, content idea generation and integrated and interactive coverage - background in using rich media as driver needs further explanation and as a supplement to traditional content sharing and coverage, including working through social media to present content and distribute to relevant audiences.

Software preferred Sprout Social, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere and Express), Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Teams, Project Management software such as Monday.com or similar software.

Compensation
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $63,672 - $74,285 per year. The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as location pay for UUP full-time positions ($4000). Your total compensation goes beyond the number in your paycheck. SBUH provides generous leave, health plans, and state pension that add to your bottom line.
