Location: Omaha, NE | Hiring Rate: $19.29 per hour

Job Duties

Authorize issuance of licenses, permits, and identification cards.

Conduct safe and comprehensive road tests for all classes of licenses in all kinds of weather.

Ride on road tests with new and inexperienced drivers.

Verify identity, immigration and citizenship status, and residential addresses.

Conduct testing and evaluation for commercial motor vehicle drivers.

Set up motorcycle testing courses and administer skill tests.

Requirements / Qualifications

Experience working with the public in a customer service capacity or working with motor vehicle laws.

Valid driver license and excellent driving record.

Successfully complete a state-approved defensive driving course within the first month of employment.

Complete the agency’s Driver License Examiner training, including federal CDL requirements, Fraud Detection and Remediation Training, and Customer Service.

Complete CDL recertification training every three years.

Pass a fingerprint background check conducted by the FBI and Nebraska State Patrol.

Must be bilingual and available for occasional overnight travel and shift travel as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Lift, carry, and roll up to 50 pounds of equipment.

Enter and exit large commercial vehicles for road tests and equipment checks.

Operate computers, vision, and other basic office equipment.

Follow policies, procedures, and protocols as required.

Read, comprehend, and apply technical guidance independently.

Work designated hours in a team environment at assigned locations.

Speak and write English clearly and concisely.

Provide excellent customer service within legal parameters.

Knowledge of customer service principles, office procedures, and common office hardware/software.

Provide on‑job mentoring to new Driver License Examiners.
