Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) to join our team. SGS, LLC is a General Contractor / Design-Builder with openings for qualified personnel on a new commercial construction project located at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.
Responsibilities
Implement EM 385-1-1 requirements & SGS's approved Accident Prevention Plan
Involved in all aspects of construction project from planning to implementation
Plan for and assign resources as applicable for projects
Supervise safety of all onsite personnel and subcontractors
Management/Enforcement of SGS’s Safety Program and Security Policies
Conduct regular safety meetings with trade subcontractors
Conduct safety for all new employees onsite
Ensure all personnel onsite are equipped with proper PPE
Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, government officials, etc.
Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to approved plans and specifications
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects
Current OSHA 30-Hour card and CPR/First Aid certifications
Familiar with requirements of EM 385-1-1, 2014 version
40HR EM385 Certification
24HR Fall Protection Competent Person Certification REQUIRED
Knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, requires applicants to be of able body to assist in performing certain portions of the work, and to manage and schedule subcontractors
Experience with USACE RMS software
Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction means and methods
Strong leadership qualities
Deadline and detail-oriented
