MPR Marketing & Events Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plans, creates, organizes and implements all project plans for marketing and event activities.
Oversee social media posting and communication. Writes, submits and follows-up to ensure communications posted; including but not limited to designing physical marketing promotions, (calendars/flyers/brochures/graphics) social media, customer communications, and community media outlets.
Maintains and updates website information.
Broadens social networking and provides support in social media monitoring process as needed.
Develop plans for marketing new areas.
Works with the Assistant Director, Recreation Supervisor, Parks Maintenance Supervisor, Facility Maintenance Supervisor and Director to develop an annual marketing plan and calendar for the Maryville Parks and Recreation Department.
Coordinates events, meetings and trade shows by identifying, assembling, and organizing requirements; establishes contacts; develops schedules and assignments; manages logistics, public relations, and advertising (production and distribution) to ensure event success.
Coordinates equipment set up and take down for each special event. Maintains up to date inventory of supplies.
Supervises and coordinates with event/entertainment contractors.
Prepares and reviews marketing and special event budgets. Determines cost effectiveness by analyzing revenues, expenditures, attendance and service hours. Assist the Director with reviewing ongoing compliance to the approved budget.
Plans, coordinates, and runs MPR’s summer camp for kids.
Secures sponsorships as needed for special events.
Maintains contact lists for internal and external communications.
Cultivates and implements sponsorship, fundraising, partnership, and memorial, and opportunities with limited assistance from the Director.
Works with the appropriate staff to ensure interior and exterior maintenance meets the standards for each special event. Oversees organization of the special event and marketing supplies areas.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

Actively participates on staff committees as necessary and appropriate.
Establishes and expands merchandise opportunities.
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for completion of new and different requests.
Performs other duties as assigned for the effective operation of Park and Recreation.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS

Supervises volunteers, interns, part-time, and seasonal staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include supervising direct reports through coaching, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Provide administrative support to each member of the special event and marketing team as needed.
Manage all aspects of volunteer coordination, including but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, supervision, training, retention, and acknowledgement.

High level of proficiency in software programs such as payroll, time and attendance, and recreation management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from college or university; and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Valid Missouri Driver’s License required.
Basic first aid, CPR and AED certification, or willingness to get certification.
Must have at least 3 years of progressive responsibility in a related field.
Experience with marketing & special events and overseeing an operational budget preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually average. The level of work is medium and involves computer work and set-up and clean-up of events. Duties are generally performed in a controlled environment indoors.
The work schedule is generally 40 hours per week on the weekdays, with the ability to work additional hours and some weekends as required.
