Position Summary
The Global Occupational Health & Safety Leader is responsible for defining and driving the global OH&S strategy, governance, and performance across DePuy Synthes operations worldwide. The role spans the end-to-end value chain, including R&D, Supply Chain, and Commercial activities, ensuring consistent protection of employees, contractors, and visitors through effective risk management and a strong safety culture.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
25% – Defines and leads the global occupational health and safety strategy across R&D, Supply Chain, and Commercial operations.
20% – Establishes and governs the global OH&S management system, including policies, standards, and performance expectations.
15% – Leads identification, assessment, and mitigation of occupational health and safety risks across laboratories, manufacturing, distribution, and commercial environments.
15% – Ensures effective operational controls and management of change processes are in place for occupational health and safety risks.
10% – Leads and develops a global Occupational Health & Safety leadership team, including direct management of global process owners for Industrial Hygiene, Fleet Safety, and Safety / Process Safety Management.
10% – Oversees global occupational health & safety performance monitoring, incident investigation, and corrective action processes.
5% – Represents DePuy Synthes with regulators, industry forums, and professional organizations on occupational health & safety matters.
Other Duties
Provides occupational health & safety leadership input to major business initiatives, capital projects, and crisis response for significant safety events.
Required Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
Required Years of Related Experience: Typically 10+ years of progressive occupational health and safety experience in global, multi-site, or regulated environments.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Deep expertise in occupational health and safety principles and risk management.
Proven ability to lead global strategies and influence senior leaders.
Strong people leadership experience, including leadership of senior technical experts.
Excellent communication skills and executive presence.
Travel on the Job
Travel Required: Yes. Percentage Traveled: Approximately 20–30%. Type of Travel Required: Domestic and International.
People Management Experience
People Management Experience Required: Yes. Required Years of People Management Experience: Significant global leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Certifications: CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, or equivalent.
Preferred Industry Experience: MedTech, manufacturing or other highly regulated environments.
Key Working Relationships
Internal: Global leaders across R&D, Supply Chain, Commercial, Quality, Regulatory, HR, and EHS&S.
External: Regulatory authorities, industry associations, professional bodies, and external service providers.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct Reports: Global process owners for Industrial Hygiene, Fleet Safety, and Safety / Process Safety Management.
Indirect Reports: Regional and site-level occupational health & safety resources aligned to global programs.
Decision Making Authority
Makes hiring recommendations; trains employees; plans work of others; reviews work quality and quantity; conducts performance reviews; makes pay and promotional recommendations; recommends budget amounts.
Pay Transparency
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $150,000.00 - $258,750.00.

Vacation – 120 hours per calendar year
Sick time – 40 hours per calendar year (48 hours for Colorado; 56 hours for Washington)
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – 13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time – up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member; 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52‑week rolling period
Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
Military Spouse Time‑Off – 80 hours per calendar year
