Medical Physicist Assistant, Medical Physics Residency Program
Medical Physicist Assistant is an Imaging Physics Resident under the supervision of the CAMPEP accredited Imaging Physics Residency Program Director, to provide services to the Medical Physics Section in accordance with the highest standards of practice and as required by regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist with Imaging Physics testing related to acceptance, routine QA, ACR accreditation, TJC and clinical implementation of new imaging technologies and protocols.

Maintain accurate records for patients and imaging equipment.

Perform imaging equipment performance evaluation testing for x‑ray radiography/fluoroscopy, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and digital mammography.

Assist with radiation safety and MRI safety tasks.

Help design radiation shielding for new imaging installations.

Participate in imaging physics research and ongoing educational activities for imaging technologists, radiology and medical physics residents.

Assist with patient radiation dose evaluation during imaging procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Administration or Chief Medical Physicist.

Ability to closely follow established procedures.

Strong critical thinking is a must for this position.

Impact the work of others within Radiology and research related studies.

Collaborate closely with radiology staff and research personnel.

Communicate with physicians, technical staff and clinic personnel daily.

Take responsibility for Medical Physics Section and its staff.

Must maintain confidential patient information.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Education:

MS degree from a CAMPEP accredited Medical Physics graduate program, or CAMPEP accredited Medical Physics certificate program

Physical Requirements
Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Work Environment
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Sensory Acuity
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
