Position Summary
The Cypress of Charlotte is recruiting for a hospitality focused Assistant Dietary Manager to join our team! This position is responsible for supervising Dietary Aides and Cooks, preparing and serving therapeutic diet trays to health center residents in accordance with posted therapeutic diet menus.
Primary Responsibilities
Works under the direction and supervision of Dietary Manager and Dietician.
Assists in the planning, scheduling and supervising of Health Center dietary employees.
Assists Dietary Manager and Dietitian in developing all menus for Health Center residents, assessing preferences and nutritional needs.
Assists in assuring employee education and training is provided to the dietary team in accordance with the staff education plan, and provides on the job training for the Health Center dietary team.
Assists in developing work assignments for all dietary employees, assigning specific jobs and spot checking work to ensure standards are met.
Opening and closing operational responsibilities.
Assures that each resident’s nutritional adequacy is met by utilizing the assurance of Nutritional Adequacy Policy.
Maintains pertinent and appropriate records, reports, schedules and studies as required by local, state and federal regulations and otherwise requested.
Initiates and supervises the completion of staff in‑services and trainings as assigned.
Works with Dietitian to assist in all meal changes or any doctor’s requests.
Interviews new admissions and documents food preferences on the approved form.
Contacts the Dietary Manager or Dietitian between scheduled visits if unplanned or special therapeutic diets are ordered.
Assures that meal tallies are accurate on a daily basis.
Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in food service operations of a health care setting.
Prefer experience as a Sous Chef.
Experience with performing clinical assessments on residents, meeting with Care Plan Team, and performing input on MDS.
Hold a Certification in Dietary Management (C.D.M.) in healthcare.
Prefer experience in a long‑term health care environment.
Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests.
Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
