Job Summary
MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics is a pediatric outpatient clinic operating under Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital at MUSC, now opening in the new MUSC Medical Office Building in Bluffton. This location brings pediatric After Hours services to the Bluffton community for the first time.
Work Schedule
Specialty Clinics: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
After Hours Clinic: Monday–Friday, 1:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.; Weekends, 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Full‑time position consists of two 12‑hour shifts (8:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m.) and two 8‑hour shifts: 12:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.; every other weekend, 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
The RN II reports to the Ambulatory Services Manager and provides patient‑centered nursing care to pediatric patients and their families within the scope of practice and the nursing process. The RN also serves as the Charge Nurse during After Hours operations, offering leadership and guidance to staff, providers, and patients to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality care.
Minimum Education and Requirements
Preferred Bachelor of Nursing degree. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma in nursing must complete an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of RN hire or reclassification.
Minimum one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Charge nurse experience preferred for After Hours coverage.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, outdoors in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, and in confined/cramped spaces; performing tasks from kneeling, bending, twisting, and squatting positions.
Ability to perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands, fine manipulation, strong grasp, and repetitive hand/wrist/shoulder movements.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted and to exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
Maintain vision, hearing, and physical acuity as described, including good peripheral vision and ability to work rotating shifts.
Ability to work overtime and in latex safe environments whenever required.
Other specific respirator or olfactory requirements for selected positions.
