Academic Program Professional 1 – AI and Education Specialist
Location: Stanford Main Campus, Hybrid (3 or more days per week on site)

Responsibilities

Oversee and administer CTL programs related to teaching and generative AI; provide input to shape programs, coordinate and implement programs, logistics, and resources.

Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends to determine program effectiveness, e.g., through program feedback surveys and participation data; formulate and evaluate potential actions to achieve CTL’s AI and teaching program goals.

Teach and/or assist in teaching and administration of educational and professional development experiences for Stanford instructors on AI and teaching; create and advise in development of curricula; make recommendations for improvements.

Facilitate workshops, discussions, and consultations on teaching strategies related to generative AI with Stanford instructors and teaching teams.

Write and edit content for program activities under general direction of CTL staff.

Stay up-to-date on research‑based educational practice in this evolving field and provide sound advice for instructors navigating AI challenges and opportunities.

Represent the program as key contact and subject matter expert within the unit and at Stanford; develop communications for internal and external constituencies.

Organize and/or participate in outreach activities such as events, partnerships, training, and conferences.

Collaborate with financial staff to monitor expenses, budgets, and overall program finances; make funding recommendations.

May oversee and train student workers.

Support physical tasks including desk‑based computer work, occasional lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Experience teaching or facilitating in educational, professional development, or training settings.

Experience navigating generative AI technology in educational contexts.

Program administration experience.

Knowledge of evidence‑based and effective teaching practices in higher education.

Strong written, oral, and analytical communication skills focused on AI and education.

Ability to communicate proactively about work progress, timelines, and feedback.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, especially projects with multiple components and due dates.

Ability to collaborate constructively, inclusively, and equitably with campus stakeholders.

Ability to work independently and in teams; take initiative.

Some supervisory experience, including basic direction of staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, doctoral, professional).

Experience working in a higher education environment with faculty, staff, and students.

Experience teaching and/or facilitating workshops or training programs in higher education.

Project management experience, e.g., with multi‑year projects involving multiple stakeholders and dependencies.

Pay Range
$90,694 to $108,963 per annum.
