Title: CTL Marketing and Communications Assistant

Position Summary
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is seeking a creative and motivated undergraduate or graduate student to serve as our Marketing and Communications Assistant. This face-to-face, on-site position is ideal for a student with a passion for design, storytelling, and digital communication. The successful candidate will support the CTL’s visibility and outreach efforts by creating engaging promotional materials, managing digital displays, coordinating event promotion, and maintaining the CTL’s social media presence and website. This role offers hands‑on experience in higher education marketing and communications.
Learning Outcomes:
Apply design principles and creative thinking to develop professional marketing materials, including flyers, digital ads, event graphics, and digital signage for the CTL.
Demonstrate proficiency in social media management by creating, scheduling, and analyzing content across platforms to build audience engagement and awareness of CTL programs and events.
Develop skills in web content management by updating and maintaining the CTL website to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and visual appeal.
Plan and execute event promotion campaigns, including pre‑event advertising, day‑of materials, and post‑event communications.
Practice effective written communication tailored to diverse audiences within a university setting, including faculty, students, and staff.
Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic academic environment.
Cultivate a professional and service‑oriented approach to communications that reflects the CTL mission and Chaminade University brand standards.
Build collaboration and teamwork skills by working closely with CTL staff, campus departments, and event organizers.

Direct Report to: Denise Dugan and James Heller Sutton
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and produce promotional materials, including flyers, digital ads, event banners, and printed signage to advertise CTL programs, workshops, and events.
Create and update content for digital display screens within the Center for Teaching and Learning, ensuring messaging is current, visually appealing, and on‑brand.
Manage the CTL’s social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn), including drafting posts, scheduling content, engaging with followers, and monitoring analytics.
Maintain and update the CTL website with current information about events, resources, staff, and services, ensuring content is accurate and accessible.
Support the planning and promotion of CTL events, including professional development workshops, faculty learning communities, and special programs.
Collaborate with the CTL team to develop a consistent and strategic communications calendar aligned with university events and academic milestones.
Photograph or capture media at CTL events (as appropriate) for use in promotional materials and social media.
Stay up to date with current design trends, social media best practices, and Chaminade University branding guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CTL Director to support the center's mission and operations.

Education and Experience
Minimum
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at Chaminade University of Honolulu.
Basic experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express, or similar platforms).
Familiarity with social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and/or LinkedIn.
Preferred
Student should maintain a current GPA of at least 2.5
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to tone, audience, and brand voice.
Creative eye for design, layout, and visual storytelling.
Proficiency with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or equivalent.
Organized and detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Self‑motivated with a willingness to take initiative and learn new tools and platforms.
Ability to collaborate effectively with CTL staff and campus partners.
High integrity and ethical standards, including responsible use of digital platforms and university communications channels.
Knowledge of social media best practices and content trends.
Basic understanding of web accessibility and content management principles.
Physical Requirements
Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
Other Requirements:
This is a Part‑time Non‑Exempt Student Worker position. Depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule.
Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required.
Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University. Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner.
