Job Description
The Athletic Trainer for the campus ROTC program is a pivotal member of the team, dedicated to supporting cadets and midshipmen through injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and education. This role ensures the well‑being and physical readiness of cadets and midshipmen by implementing effective training techniques, overseeing injury management, and promoting safe practices during rigorous ROTC activities.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement injury prevention programs tailored to the needs of ROTC cadets and midshipmen.

Educate cadets and midshipmen on proper training techniques and safe practices to minimize the risk of injury.

Conduct prompt evaluations and provide initial treatment for physical injuries sustained during ROTC training, exercises, and related events.

Design and supervise rehabilitation programs to facilitate safe and swift return to training and/or duty for injured cadets and midshipmen.

Collaborate with ROTC staff and campus health services to ensure seamless care and support for cadets and midshipmen.

Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and progress of cadet rehabilitation.

Promote overall health, fitness, and endurance among cadets and midshipmen, supporting the success and effectiveness of the ROTC program.

Provide rehabilitation and clinical services within the Student Health and Wellness Center.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).

Eligibility for Florida State AT licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Athletic Training; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience working with collegiate athletes or military personnel.

Current certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.

Licensure (or eligibility) for Athletic Training in the State of Florida.

Strong knowledge of injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation techniques.

Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate ROTC training schedules and events.

Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during training and exercise sessions.

Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.

Ability to lift and carry equipment as necessary.
