Position Summary
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up and operating press brake machines to bend and form metal parts according to engineering drawings and production specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to produce high-quality parts while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal and plate materials
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings
Select proper tooling, dies, and machine settings for each job
Measure, inspect, and verify parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, protractors, etc.)
Ensure parts meet required tolerances, dimensions, and quality standards
Perform test bends and make adjustments as needed
Monitor machine operation and maintain consistent production quality
Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
Follow company safety policies and procedures at all times
Document production and inspection results as required
Work with supervisors, engineering, and quality teams to resolve production or quality issues
Work Environment
Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to noise, metal dust, and machinery.
Standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required.
May involve overtime to meet production schedules.
Requirements
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
Experience with
Amada RG-80 Brake
required
Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings
Knowledge of metal forming processes, tooling, and materials
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to perform basic shop math and measurements
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred
1–3+ years of press brake experience
Experience with CNC press brakes (a plus)
Familiarity with GD&T and tight-tolerance work
Forklift or overhead crane experience (a plus)
Trade school or manufacturing certification (a plus)
