Overview
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) - Full Time/Salary - Irving, TX
We are seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC - full licensure required) to provide specialized mental health counseling for social and emotional adjustment during rehabilitation from catastrophic injury or illness.
Responsibilities include supporting individuals and families as they adapt to disability and lifestyle changes, and serving as part of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to maximize outcomes and address barriers to progress in treatment.
Preferred: 2+ years of experience with knowledge of neurological injuries.
Responsibilities
Provides empirically based psychological interventions to the person receiving services and their family as appropriate to maximize participation in the community. Interventions may include cognitive behavioral interventions, problem-solving focused interventions, adjustment processes and coping, psycho-education, stress management, wellness promotion, compensatory strategies, pain management, and programmatic outcomes.
Performs brief assessments at various stages in the counseling process as appropriate.
Provides feedback to the person served, family, and treatment team regarding behavioral, emotional, psychological, and cognitive rehabilitation issues, test results, and practical applications.
Conducts thorough evaluations, assesses needs, and sets measurable objectives in collaboration with the rehabilitation team, adjusting treatment to achieve maximum results.
Applies professional knowledge and skills in accordance with accepted clinical standards to facilitate problem resolution and achieve individualized goals.
Provides treatment progress and status documentation in the Plan of Treatment and maintains/submits documentation per company, facility, local, state, and federal regulations.
Reports progress to the rehabilitation staff, person served, and family; observes/documents and reports changes to the clinical coordinator/designee, attending physician, and other treatment team members as appropriate.
Participates in team processes, provides input and effective treatment strategies, attends case conferences and family educational meetings, and develops, teaches, and assesses the Plan of Treatment.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or a counseling-related field from an accredited college or university
A minimum of one year of clinical experience and counseling individuals
Maintenance of professional license and/or certification as required by the state in which the counselor practices
Successfully completes any required pre-employment evaluation tests per policy in each assigned area of practice
