More About the Opportunity: We are hoping you will join us as an Accountant II and help shape the future of healthcare where you'll be an integral part of our Accounting team, helping to strive for excellence while we serve our member health with dignity, respecting the value and needs of each of our members through collaboration with our providers, community partners and local stakeholders. This position has been approved to be Partial Telework. If telework is approved, you are required to work within the State of California only and if Partial Telework, also come in to the Main Office in Orange, CA, at least two (2) days per week minimum.
The Accountant II will perform complex professional accounting activities to support the preparation, recordation and reconciliation of accounting and business transactions. You will maintain and assist with maintaining the General Ledger system and provide management reports as needed. You will assist with proper financial reporting of CalOptima Health's operations, participate in general accounting functions and coordinate work with others in the organization. Together, we are building a stronger, more equitable health system.
Your Contributions To the Team

90% - Accounting Functions
Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.
Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.
Participates in the training of other staff and employees on defined task processes as needed.
Prepares and posts complex journal entries to the general ledger monthly.
Performs detailed reconciliations of balance sheet and expense accounts monthly.
Reviews account and line-item detail for financial trend variances for accuracy and completeness and ensures the posting of required adjustments.
Participates in closing the books in an accurate and timely manner, monthly and annually.
Participates in the completion of the monthly financial package.
Assists with the completion of the financial and other regulatory audits.
Assists with as-needed research of GASB and regulatory guidelines or requirements.
Follows the Accounting department's policies and procedures.
Assists with updating policies, procedures and standards for accounting activities.
Maintains departmental records, reports and data for administrative and regulatory purposes.

Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Do You Have What the Role Requires?
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field PLUS 4 years of accounting experience required; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position may also be qualifying.
Preferred/Additional

Lifting and moving objects, patients and/or equipment 10 to 25 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits

Ways We Are Here For You: You\'ll enjoy competitive compensation for this role. Our current hiring range is: Pay Grade 310 - $72,096 - $115,353 ($34.66 - $55.4582). The final salary offered will be based on education, job-related knowledge and experience, skills relevant to the role and internal equity among other factors. This position is approved for Partial Telework. Training will be held in the office for the first 2 weeks from 8am - 5pm, Monday - Thursday.
