Accountant II , you will be an integral part of our Accounting team, helping to shape the future of healthcare while supporting our member health operations through collaboration with providers, community partners, and local stakeholders. This position is approved for partial telework – you are required to work in California and attend the Orange, CA main office at least two days per week.

Responsibilities

Perform complex accounting activities to support the preparation, recordation, and reconciliation of accounting and business transactions.

Maintain and assist with the General Ledger system and provide management reports as needed.

Assist with proper financial reporting of CalOptima Health’s operations and participate in general accounting functions.

Coordinate work with other departments and ensure timely book closing, monthly financial package completion, and audit support.

Prepare and post complex journal entries; perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet and expense accounts; review account details for accuracy and completeness; participate in closing books; and assist with regulatory audits.

Research GASB and regulatory guidelines; update accounting policies and procedures; maintain departmental records and reports.

Support additional projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field plus 4 years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with health care or not‑for‑profit accounting.

Experience with Covered California.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of government accounting standards.

Work Environment
