Job Summary
The Coordinator of Student Involvement (Student Union) is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive campus activities program that enhances student engagement, fosters a sense of belonging, and supports the overall student experience. This role provides direct oversight of campus-wide events, student programming initiatives, and student staff, while advising the student programming board (the Jaguar Production Crew). The coordinator collaborates with campus partners to deliver high-impact events, manages logistics and budgets, supports marketing and outreach efforts, and ensures programs align with institutional goals, student engagement priorities, and best practices in student affairs.

Responsibilities

Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of student employees for the Jaguar Production Crew; manage hiring of 30+ student assistants and event staff, develop a recruitment plan, coordinate the hiring process, and provide onboarding and training.

Plan and implement campus-wide events, including signature programs such as Homecoming Week and Student Appreciation Day; develop event timelines, production plans, and operational checklists; collaborate with partners; manage budgets and marketing.

Monitor and ensure inventory, safety, and functionality of the student center facility; coordinate with maintenance, conduct inspections, ensure AV and event equipment are in good order, monitor inventory, and generate reports.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of work experience in event planning, education, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Knowledge

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Experience in organizing, coordinating, and executing events.

Skills

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.

Abilities

Maintain confidentiality.

Supervise student staff.

Collaborate and develop partnerships with various university departments, faculty, staff, and student organizations.

Relate with people, project confidence and competence, and handle stressful situations with ease.

Willingness to adjust personal schedule to the needs of the student programming board.

Commitment to open and effective communication with students, faculty, and staff.

Perform all job duties; physical abilities as required.

Shift / Salary / Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday–Friday (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B7.
Salary: $43,888 to $45,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
Benefits: Health, dental, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan, earned vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Full-time employees employed >6 months may be considered for Tuition Assistance Program.

Conditions of Employment

Depending on duties, a credit check may be required for Positions of Trust or approved card usage, and motor vehicle reports for positions requiring a University vehicle.
