
HVAC Systems Technician

About the Role
The HVAC Systems Technician is responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, control and related building systems at Pall Corporation’s facility in Cortland, NY. The position reports to the Facilities and Equipment Manager and requires independent judgment and leadership over maintenance staff, laborers, contractors, and others during assigned projects. Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
Responsibilities
Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot facility mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, BAS, and associated controls; perform diagnostics, calibrations, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and emergency/on‑call response while ensuring compliance with safety standards, building codes, and operational requirements.
Monitor, document, and optimize building operations by managing CMMS work orders and records, responding to maintenance requests and alarms, inspecting mechanical and control systems, recommending capital or major repairs, and identifying opportunities for efficiency, reliability, and energy conservation improvements.
Support maintenance operations and team development by coordinating maintenance projects, maintaining tools, inventory, and logs, assisting with training apprentices and staff, providing customer service support, and performing work in confined spaces, at heights, or in adverse conditions as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or certificate in air‑conditioning, heating, and refrigeration technology (or related field) and five (5) years of full‑time experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and control systems; OR
High school diploma or equivalent, completion of an apprenticeship with journeyman certification, and seven (7) hours of full‑time experience as described above; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience as determined by the Commissioner of Personnel.
Special Requirements
Valid EPA 608 Technician Certification.
Universal EPA CFC certification preferred at time of hire.
Boiler Certificate required within one year of appointment.
Note: Candidates without journeyman certification must have at least 12 years of hands‑on HVAC experience.

The hourly range for this role is $36.00 – $40.00 per hour. This range may be modified in the future.
