
Sterile Processing Assistant Manager (48X night shift)

Job Summary
The Assistant Manager provides guidance, direction, and leadership to Sterile Processing staff to deliver quality service to departments. Responsibilities include collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high‑level disinfection, and distribution of patient care equipment and surgical instrumentation. The role ensures quality, productivity, labor efficiency, compliance with budget, and models excellence in customer service.
Key Responsibilities
40% – Supervisor and Clinical Responsibilities
40% – Liaison for Ambulatory Clinics and Non‑operative sites
15% – Practice and Compliance Regulatory Preparedness
5% – Other Duties
Minimum Qualifications
A base certification from either CRCST (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CSPDT (Certification Board of Sterile Processing & Distribution)
Maintain certification by completing CEUs and renewing as required
At least five years of experience as a sterile processing technician
Minimum two years as a sterile processing manager or supervisor
Experience implementing operational practices according to AAMI Standards and Guidelines
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and professional agencies (CMS, TJC, AORN, APIC)
Experience with disinfection, sterilization, packaging, and infection control principles
Experience overseeing staff and managing revenue/expense budgets
Extensive knowledge of AAMI recommended practices and regulatory guidelines
Knowledge of a surgical atmosphere
Proficiency with Central Processing programs, instrument tracking, email, spreadsheets, and word processing
High attention to detail and ability to complete work timely and accurately
Independent critical thinking and initiative to solve problems
Ability to apply policy and procedure when making decisions
Ability to identify, analyze, and report problems accurately and timely
Ability to exercise sound judgment and recognize situations requiring escalation
Ability to assist in planning and organizing workflow
Ability to prioritize work to meet turnaround times and deadlines
Ability to develop creative solutions in a self‑motivated manner
Ability to maintain satisfactory performance levels
Self‑motivation and ability to work independently and timely
