Role Purpose
The Associate Trader is responsible for executing and optimizing trading operations across client portfolios while building scalable, technology-enabled processes that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and advisor experience.

Success in this role is defined not only by accurate trade execution, but by the ability to drive operational efficiency, improve advisor workflows, and contribute to a high-performing investment infrastructure.

What Success Looks Like (12-Month Outcomes)
Trading Execution & Accuracy

Execute trades across all security types with high accuracy and minimal need for corrections

Achieve best execution standards through effective use of block trading and order types

Maintain same-day trade completion for standard requests and defined SLAs for complex trades

Ensure full compliance with trading policies and audit requirements

Serve as a reliable trading partner to advisors and investment managers

Reduce advisor follow-up inquiries related to trading through proactive and clear communication

Deliver consistent, timely updates on trade status and execution outcomes

Process Improvement & Automation

Identify and implement at least 3 workflow improvements or automations annually

Leverage AI and technology tools to:

Reduce manual processing time

Improve trade accuracy and oversight

Contribute to building a scalable trading infrastructure that supports firm growth

Data Integrity & Model Management

Maintain accurate account models, restrictions, and allocations with high data integrity and minimal discrepancies

Improve data organization and accessibility to enhance trading efficiency

Core Responsibilities
Trading Operations

Execute, monitor, and reconcile trades across all asset classes using firm trading platforms

Implement block trading strategies and specialized order types to optimize execution

Coordinate with advisors and portfolio managers to ensure alignment on trade intent and timing

Maintain compliance with all internal policies and regulatory requirements

Collaborate with advisors to implement and maintain portfolio models, restrictions, and allocations

Support account setup and trading-related configurations

Provide clear, timely communication on trade execution and issues

Data & Analytics

Manipulate and organize trading and portfolio data to improve workflows

Identify inefficiencies and recommend data-driven improvements

Ensure high-quality data inputs across systems impacting trading

Leverage Excel, trading platforms, and emerging AI tools to enhance efficiency

Assist in developing automation solutions for repetitive trading and operational tasks

Support ongoing enhancements to trading systems and integrations

Requirements

Series 65, or Series 7 & 66

Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or analytical field

Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Advanced proficiency in Excel

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Orion, Eclipse, Fidelity, Schwab, and Envestnet platforms

Familiarity with databases, coding, or workflow automation

Exposure to private equity and alternative investments

CFA designation or progress toward completion

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Intellectual curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset
