Corporate Development Modeler and M&A Execution
The Corporate Development Modeler and M&A Executioner supports the company's strategic growth by developing sophisticated financial models to evaluate investments across the energy value chain and serve as lead executioner on M&A transaction. This role is central to analyzing opportunities such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, joint ventures, infrastructure and power investments, and large-scale capital projects such as LNG. The ideal candidate has a strong background in private equity, hedge fund, investment banking, consulting, or corporate financepaired with a solid understanding of the energy industry's market drivers, regulatory landscape, and asset-heavy business models.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Build and maintain complex financial models to evaluate potential energy-related transactions including upstream, midstream, downstream, LNG, power generation, and emerging energy technologies
Develop valuation analyses using DCF, net asset value (NAV), commodity price sensitivities, precedent transactions, and comparable companies
Conduct accretion/dilution modeling to measure the financial impact of strategic transactions on earnings and free cash flow
Analyze synergies, operational efficiencies, and integration risks associated with energy sector transactions, including field development, pipeline capacity, and power market integration
Support full M&A and divestiture lifecycle, including asset screening, commercial and technical due diligence, financial review, bid strategy, negotiation support, and post-deal integration modeling
Partner with Engineering, Finance, Strategy, and Operations teams to validate assumptions related to production forecasts, capital expenditures, reserves, power generation profiles, commodity price curves, and regulatory factors
Prepare investment decks, valuation summaries, and executive presentations for senior leadership and the Board
Perform market and competitive analysis focusing on energy market trends, regulatory changes, energy transition impacts, and long-term supply/demand dynamics
Support annual strategic planning, corporate portfolio optimization, and capital allocation decisionsbalancing legacy assets with emerging clean-energy investments
Job Specific Skills:
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel, including building models from scratch for asset-heavy and commodity-driven businesses
Strong understanding of energy market fundamentals, such as commodity pricing, cost curves, regulatory frameworks, production/operational metrics, and energy transition trends
Experience evaluating energy-related M&A, divestitures, and joint ventures
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret large, complex datasets
Strong communication skills with experience preparing executive-ready presentations and investment recommendations
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Education:
Minimum: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or related field
Preferred: MBA, CFA, or energy-specific certifications
Experience:
Minimum: 2 - 5 years related work experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or financial analysispreferably within the energy sector
Preferred: Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or modeling
