Responsibilities

Conduct in-school club meetings and deliver prepared curriculums that meet state guidelines.
Recruit students to participate in 4-H educational programs.
Recruit and assist volunteers through the volunteer screening procedures.
Assist 4-H members in preparation for 4-H competitive events including project achievement and judging teams.
Transport or arrange transportation for 4-H members to district and state events; provide youth leadership if assigned.
Publicize 4-H events and accomplishments through local mass media and county websites.
Percentage of time and duties:
65% Duties/Responsibilities: Attend and participate in training sessions/activities overnight and on weekends as directed by the 4-H Agent, District Extension Director, or County Extension Coordinator.
Participate in staff conferences for planning and evaluation of joint activities; share ideas among staff and leadership.
Perform all duties in accordance with The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Equal Opportunity plan.
Performs related work as necessary.
20% Duties/Responsibilities: Submit accurate, complete reports on time in Georgia Counts and 4-H Enrollment; provide supplemental documentation for evaluating and improving programs.
Work with county staff to manage allocated funds for equipment, supplies, travel, and program supports; seek additional resources as needed.
15% Duties/Responsibilities: Provide reports and support to District and State 4-H offices as required.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
The County Extension 4-H Program Assistant is a para-professional who works with County Extension Agents to deliver the 4-H program in their geographic area and assists with day-to-day operations. Works cooperatively with Extension faculty and staff and is administratively responsible to the County Extension Coordinator and the District Extension Director, and programmatically responsible to an assigned County Extension 4-H Agent.
Knowledge and skills in communication, data management, and working with youth and adults.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Show high standards of professionalism in personal contacts, appearance, and work habits; demonstrate independent judgment.
Develop computer skills to enhance communication and 4-H data management.
Maintain consistent and effective work habits to manage time and resources.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county, district, state staff, local government employees, and clientele.
Proficiency in current word processing and data management software (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Physical Demands

Light to moderate physical activity, including lifting, to conduct programs (e.g., handling animals, supplies, demonstration materials, A/V equipment).
Some standing and/or sitting for varying lengths of time.
Working in various seasonal weather conditions for outside activities.
Driving to perform job-related tasks.
