Administrative Secretary

Under administrative direction, the Administrative Secretary performs specialized technical, secretarial, and administrative support duties typically for an educational administrator in a department having multiple sub-functions, or organization-wide service with substantial secretarial needs. Coordinates and performs administrative projects, work flow, and support activities for the office and related functions. This position requires the ability to carry out projects that involve data from other departments, sites or districts and research gathering of information for reports and special studies.

Coordinates and performs administrative projects, work flow, and support activities for the Office and related functions. Minimum qualifications: EDUCATION: High School Diploma plus one year of advanced secretarial training obtained through a community college, trade or correspondence school or on-the-job training. AA Degree in office administration or related field desired. EXPERIENCE: Over three years of secretarial experience. Experience working in a school district, county office of education or similar agency desired. CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Type 55 wpm. Proficient (Microsoft Office Specialist) in the use of MS Word and Excel software and proficient in other software programs, i.e., graphic layout design, and databases. Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including a personal computer. Ability to organize work and perform a variety of complex clerical and secretarial tasks. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; and interpret and explain MCOE policies and programs. Ability to make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
